England’s legendary Premier League has come under quite a lot of criticism as of late. With a number of race related incidents over the last several months, most recently seeing the banning of striker Luis Suarez after charged racial comments, we asked the question: just how diverse is the Premier League?

This Visual News Original graphic, looks at the league’s 20 famous teams and breaks them down into their players country of origin. Each team has been given a diversity ranking, based on the number of players compared to their number of nationalities. All data is based on the teams 25 Man Rosters from September 2011. As we are currently in the January transfer window, it will be interesting to see how these rosters will change at the end of the month.

  1. It’s great to see so much diversity! I think sports is an example of a meritocracy. Although to some degree you want to support the domestic players and national team so I think Arsenal should have more English players. Nice graphic!

  2. Arsenal has 2 Polish goalkeepers.
