Tuesday 12.20.2011 , Posted by

Who knew the late Kim Jong-il was such a party animal?? Here he is dropping top dance tunes, drinking booze and generally being the life of the party with the likes of Daft Punk, David Guetta and Skrillex. With the way he and his devoted followers claim he’s invented, improved and generally done everything (he’s the genius who wrote 6 full operas in 2 years and invented the modern cinema) is it really any surprise he also mixes some epic vinyl grooves? Wait… he probably invented vinyl! [Read more...]

Soft Sculptures Made From Drinking Straws

Tuesday 12.20.2011 , Posted by

From a distance it’s very hard to tell what these soft looking sculptures are actually made of… only when you step close do you realize the large pink and white walls are actually made of thousands of drinking straws. Created by Korean artist Sang Sik Hong, each piece uses thousands of the commonly disposed items to create huge hands, lips and eyes emerging from flat walls. His works, represented by Patrajdas Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, contrast the delicate nature of his strange medium with his choice to represent subjects of sex and power with them. Shooters: Art Against First Person War Games

Warning: Graphic War Themed Content

Looking one part art, one part video game and one part real war, these painting by artist Temme Barkin-Leeds are as captivating as they are repulsive. She believes that if you make art, you should have something to say and in these pieces she certainly does. Part of her Video Games series, the pieces reflect her emotional response to games, like Medal of Honor and Call of Duty, which depict war but, she says, purposely neglect to reveal the true consequences of real world battle. While acknowledging the rush one gets while playing these sort of games, she is also strongly taking a stance against them. [Read more...]

Known for its antics and bringing wild ideas to life, Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory show has certainly made a name for him in the world of crazy stunts.  On Dec 17th, after reaching out to Chevy for funding on his latest looney idea, he successfully kickflipped a car.  You heard that right.  He took a new Chevy Sonic off an angled ramp to perform the first kickflip of a vehicle in history.

To take the campaign even further, Chevy hired Goodby Silverstein & Partners, along with Motion Theory and director Adam Sadowsky of Syyn Labs to take the Sonic sky-high for both a bungee jump and skydive [Read more...]
