Stefanie Posavec is one unique and extremely talented designer. Her personal works focus on some very unusual subjects too, analyzing the structure of books or mathematical division, and most unusually doing much of the work by hand with pen and paper. The more one knows about her complex projects, the more interesting and beautiful they become. Get inside the mind of the designer in the interview below, then head to It’s Been Real for more on Posavec’s interesting work. You can follow her on twitter here.
On the 4 plates below, from Posavec’s website:
“Each diagram represents an edition of The Origin of Species, and is modelled on the ‘literary organism’ structure used for On the Road, by Jack Kerouac. Within the diagram, chapters are divided into subchapters as in Darwin’s original text, and these subchapters are divided into paragraph ‘leaves’. The small wedge-shaped ‘leaflets’ represent sentences. Each sentence is coloured according to whether the sentence will survive to the next edition (blue) or whether it will be deleted and not be within the next edition (orange).”
