André Meca (aka Heymeca) is a Portuguese graphic designer and illustrator who creates images that literally pop off the page — a term that usually makes a designer cringe when heard from a client — but in this case it’s a term thats most welcome. His use of color attacks your eyeballs with the way they jump off the page, like sparkling sunlight reflecting off a lake or a neon light exploding into your retinas, grabbing your attention and never letting go.
André is currently a graphic design student at ESAD and works as a freelancer. When he’s not in school or working freelance, he’s continually making something cool, which is where this article was birthed. He has a project entitled, ”Make Something Cool Everyday” where he takes his invigorating style — a mix of retro, new school, collage and typography — to create something we think is even cooler than cool.
