All over the world, people deal with a daily problem that is both life threatening and forms a structural barrier to any possibility of development: land mines. In this inspiring TEDx talk from Rotterdam, Bart Weetjens talks about his life changing project: training rats to sniff out land mines and tuberculosis to save human lives. He shows clips of his “hero rats” in training and in the field doing their much needed work.

For more on Bart Weetjens or on training the giant african pouched rats used in this work, be sure to see apopo.org or herorat.org.
