They don’t make them like they used to… this sampling of vintage skateboard ads from the 70s and 80s takes us back to days when decks were flat, wheels were big and shorts were short. Coming from vintage skate magazines, this sampling will sure put you in the mood to go bomb a hill or drop in a pool.

That Wheelee Board truly is unbelievable. I’ve never even seen that before today. Great collection of vintage ads!
Slackers.
We had to suffice with metal wheeled roller skates designed to clamp onto shoes that were disassembled and bolted onto a length of 2×4 wood.
So what’s your source on these? Did you scan them yourself or are from elsewhere?
@Kilwag – Steve Hauben, the author of the post, has been scanning vintage ads (and finding others in random sites around the web) and organizing them into sets on his Flickr account for a long time. You can check out some of the great stuff he has compiled here http://www.flickr.com/photos/sa_steve/sets/ and we will see if he recalls the exact origins of these ones in particular. Thanks for popping by!
