Imagine floating on your back in a warm, sunshine-bathed lake. On the bank, light filters through the trees creating little sparkling reflections like silver coins floating on the surface. Hearing your friends splashing and laughing nearby your eyes relax lazily making everything go a bit out of focus… this is the life.
That’s the impression we get when watching the beautiful videos by Mammoth Media. Images flash before our eyes: a smile, a flash of the sky, the trees… all creating a whole that is completely blissful. Our writer Paul caught up with Trevor Hawkins & Austin Goldberg of the Mammoth crew to ask them a few questions about what inspires. Relax, enjoy and watch these videos with a friend!
Paul: “Your video’s capture many blissful fleeting moments… what was one of your favorites?”
Mammoth: “Our favorite video so far is entitled, ‘Sailing the San Juans.’ It is nothing more than a ‘home video’ documenting our sailing trip throughout the northwest. We made it simply for ourselves as a souvenir.”
After towing their sailboat from Kansas City to Seattle, the Mammoth crew sails up to Vancouver, British Columbia, and beautifully captures the adventure.
Paul: “What was one thing that your travels taught you that you didn’t expect?”
Mammoth: “With so much traveling, we were able to look at our lives at home more objectively. We realized how good we have it, and how much we missed our friends and families. As a result, we now cherish our time at home more.”
Back home: Blob
Paul: “You’re living the life and what you’re doing is damn inspiring! Can you tell us what’s next?”
Mammoth: “Moving forward we are going to concentrate on some bigger projects. Possibly some feature length documentaries.”
Paul: “Thanks for the time and best of luck. I’ve been playing Sailing the San Juan’s over and over and dreaming about my next traveling adventure… time to go watch it again.”

funny how it is so currently trendy to try and emulate the look of film these days. people are putting in fake colorization, fake sounds, fake light leaks. it can be beautiful, don’t get me wrong… but it is completely meaningless.
