Sound Sculptures Created by Paint

In the video below you’ll see Canon’s latest ad showing what looks like the eruption of a technicolor volcano. The Canon Pixma: Bringing Colour to Life campaign was directed by Chris Hewitt along with Rob Zuurbier of Dentsu London. The effect was created by wrapping a condom-like membrane around a small speaker, adding a few dollops of vibrant paint on top and then turning music on to push the paint into the air to create what look like liquid fireworks.

Shooting with a powerful macro lens at 5,400 frames per seconds, this results in blob-like formations that might just take you back to the lava lamp of your preteen years.
